How to choose a plus size wedding dress
[fbshare] Congratulations you are engaged and are planning a wedding in the very near future. As a larger woman (like me) you must already know that the task of trying to choose a plus size wedding dress is going to be a difficult one. Fortunately, in today’s market of plus size women, finding a plus size wedding dress is going to be much easier than it would’ve been, say, 30 years ago. The first thing you must do is to get yourself measured.
If you don’t want a professional to measure you, then get a trusted friend or family member to help you out. As much as you think you could do this on your own, if you are a larger woman, it’s going to be difficult to get the tape measure to lay flat and level all the way around your body to get a precise measurement.
Before you can even start to choose a plus size wedding dress you must have an accurate measurement, your wedding dress is not something you want to guess with. After you are measured, you must look at the numbers and figure out which area is your biggest asset and which is the part you want to downplay.
Most plus size brides have an ample bust line. This does not mean that you should be showing this off to all of your friends and family who are in attendance at your wedding. A little cleavage is great, but more is not better when it comes to your chest – at least not for the wedding ceremony. Save a little back for the honeymoon.
Choose a Plus Size Wedding Dress
If you have a larger backside, then by getting a dress with a flowing skirt, this will hide any imperfections that you may have. If your rear isn’t very large, but your belly is bulging and has rolls, then you will want to cover and camouflage your front. This can be done best with ruffles or layers of any kind. This thinking also is applied when speaking about your legs. If you have large thighs and calf’s, then by all means, wear a long full length dress, rather than a trendy knee length skirt.
If you have larger arms, you can get away with a strapless gown, but by wearing an empire waist and long length skirt, then you will still look great. Just be aware of any stretch marks that you may want to cover. Even if you are comfortable with your size, the guests in attendance will be noticing the spider veins or stretch marks and not be focusing on your beauty.
When you are starting to choose a plus size wedding dress you need to be totally honest with yourself, do not think you can lose 100lbs in 3 months and squeeze into the royal wedding dress. Aim for realistic and achievable goals and pick the dress that suits the figure you have not the one you want.
Going shopping to choose a plus size wedding dress can be a challenge, but there are many stores and websites who can accommodate any size woman. Before you start to shop, just be aware of your shortcomings and be prepared to dress accordingly. Let’s face it; you’re a plus size woman and not a size 6 (I am a 18 and I had trouble finding the perfect dress in any local shops).
You will look more stunning in a dress that flatters your larger figure than by trying to squeeze into a dress one or two sizes too small. Whichever dress you decide to wear, you are sure to look lovely. The man standing beside you will love you no matter how you look. Just smile and be radiant on this, the happiest day of your life.
Trying to choose a plus size wedding dress is not the easiest thing to do but it is also not the only thing you have to do. Remember this is your big day, it is supposed to be fun, try and enjoy and do not worry.
